ARTS SERVICES COALITION (ASC)
ASC MISSION
The Arts Services Coalition's mission is to provide resources for developing
excellence in the delivery of services for the Greater Boston cultural community.
ASC GOALS
The ASC achieves its mission by:
- improving communication and coordination efforts among ASC members.
- serving as a peer network for leaders in the field.
- increasing professionalism within arts services.
- increasing visibility of ASC members and of the arts to the public.
Major long-term goals of the ASC are to:
- explore the potential of an Arts Services Coalition Center. The Center would
establish a multidimensional consulting resource and referral agency for
individual artists and arts organizations. The Center would create economic
efficiencies in work and meeting space, equipment, supplies, and staff for
the members of the ASC.
- provide "one-stop shopping" for artists and arts organizations.
ASC HISTORY
A group of Boston-based arts service organizations began to meet in the summer
of 2000 to network and learn more about each other's organizations. As we
took this first step toward working collaboratively, we were struck by the possibilities
of how we could better serve our constituents by leveraging our collective
resources. We also acknowledged our common challenges as small nonprofit
arts organizations as we grappled with basic needs, such as space,
staffing, fundraising, and clarity of mission. The result of this collaboration was
the Arts Services Coalition (ASC). The ASC now serves as the only coordinating
body for arts service organizations in the Greater Boston area.
