Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston
MISSION
The Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston is a leading catalyst for creating dynamic partnerships across the arts and private sectors to strengthen the cultural and economic vitality of the Greater Boston region.
The Arts & Business Council's programs achieve this mission by developing the leadership, creativity and management expertise of participants; by increasing awareness of the major contributions of arts and culture to vitality of the city, especially within the private sector; and by fostering a more inclusive and open Boston by helping people of differing backgrounds to learn from each other.
A&BC/ Boston is one of 17 U.S. affiliates that collectively provide the Private Sector programs of Americans for the Arts and the largest national volunteer network serving the cultural community.
SERVICES / PROGRAM OVERVIEW
- Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) develops and places experienced business professionals as pro bono consultants on management projects with small to midsized not-for-profit arts organizations
- Board Center for the Arts is the region's leading board training and placement resource for companies and arts and cultural organizations. The center consists of two programs: Business On Board which trains and places business executives on arts boards and Board Development Program which instructs arts organizations on managing and recruiting for their board.
- The American Express National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP) prepares arts organizations to better understand the marketplace in which they operate and develop
innovative, effective audience development plans and marketing skills, resulting in increased earned income through audience development.
- MetLife Foundation National Arts Forums presents topics of interest to the business
and arts community.
- The Artist's Professional Toolbox is a year long professional development program for visual artists that empowers emerging and mid-career visual artists with the skills and confidence they need to master the business challenges of being an artist. Offered in collaboration with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and Urban Arts at Massachusetts College of Art.
- Creativity Connection helps corporations to surface creativity through high-quality arts-based learning programs, custom-designed and delivered by the world's leading experts.
